The Friends of Ropes Creek have worked along Ropes Creek from 1990-92, and 1996 until now doing hands-on bush regeneration under the guidance of professional bush regenerators.

In 1997 the group was incorporated into the Penrith Bushcare Network as a foundation member. Ongoing applications for funding grants from State and Federal natural area funding bodies, by our group in collaboration with other organisations, has resulted in almost continuous funding for professional regeneration to protect the Endangered remnant vegetation. Most funding has come from the Environmental Trust of NSW.

Another important aspect of this process has been to involve as many community participants as possible in order to make our work sustainable. As a part of this endeavor Local School Groups, local Scouts and Cubs, other Community Groups, various local residents have participated in plantings, weed removal and education tours of the site.
